Harnessing Your Natural Growth Factors for Renewal

PRP and PRF are regenerative treatments created from a patient’s own blood. After a small blood draw, the blood is processed in a specialized centrifuge to separate and concentrate platelets and other beneficial components.

Platelets contain growth factors, cytokines, cell-adhesion molecules, and signaling proteins involved in tissue repair. These components can support fibroblast activity, collagen production, cellular communication, angiogenesis, and extracellular-matrix remodeling.

Because the treatments are autologous—meaning they come from the patient’s own blood—they offer a natural approach to skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, and tissue support.

PRP VS. PRF

PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a liquid concentration of platelets. It is processed with an anticoagulant and a double-spin technique to achieve a higher platelet concentration. PRP releases growth factors relatively quickly and can be used for skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, and healing support.

PRF, or Platelet-Rich Fibrin, is processed differently and creates a natural fibrin matrix. This matrix acts like a three-dimensional scaffold and allows growth factors to be released more gradually over time. PRF is especially useful for delicate facial areas, including the under-eyes.

Our Centrifuge and Processing System

We are using the EmCyte PurePRP® SupraPhysiologic system, an advanced double-spin platelet-concentrating system.

Unlike basic single-spin systems that primarily collect plasma, the EmCyte system uses a double-spin process to isolate and concentrate platelets more precisely. The system allows the provider to customize the final formulation and treatment volume while controlling which cellular components are retained.

 

Important features include:​

  • A proprietary double-spin process for advanced platelet concentration

  • The ability to create neutrophil-rich or neutrophil-poor preparations depending on the treatment

  • Precision separation of platelets and beneficial cellular mediators

The double-spin system separates the patient’s blood into its different components and then concentrates the platelet-rich portion. The final preparation contains platelets and regenerative signaling components while minimizing unwanted red blood cells and, when appropriate, inflammatory neutrophils. EmCyte describes its system as allowing precise isolation of cellular components while maintaining the biological integrity of platelet-derived growth factors.

The attached peer-reviewed article also explains that different PRP processing systems can create significantly different cellular compositions. In the study, the EmCyte double-spin system was used to produce a high concentration of platelets with minimal neutrophil contamination.
