What is Kybella?
Kybella® is an FDA-approved injectable treatment specifically designed to reduce moderate to severe fat beneath the chin, also known as submental fullness.
It contains a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid—a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb dietary fat.

​What to Expect During Your Treatment
Your Kybella® treatment will be tailored by your provider based on your individual goals and desired chin profile. To ensure your comfort, a topical numbing cream is applied for 10–15 minutes prior to the injections, which typically take only a few minutes. Most patients require 1 to 3 sessions, spaced at least one month apart, though visible contouring can often be seen after just one treatment. Following your injections, it’s normal to experience swelling and tenderness that can last from several days to a few weeks—this is a sign the treatment is actively working. Full results are typically revealed 12 weeks after your final session. Best of all, once your desired look is achieved and you maintain a stable body weight, results are permanent—no retreatment expected!
Post Kybella Treatment
After your Kybella® treatment, it's normal to experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness, especially in the first few days. To minimize discomfort and support healing, apply cold compresses, keep your head elevated, and avoid touching or massaging the treated area. Refrain from strenuous activity, alcohol, and salty or spicy foods for 48 hours. Most swelling subsides within 1–2 weeks, and full results appear about 12 weeks after your final treatment. Always contact your provider if you notice unusual symptoms like difficulty swallowing or signs of infection.
