Smooth Skin Starts with Laser Hair Removal

Say goodbye to razors, waxing, and plucking—Cutera Laser Hair Removal offers a safe, effective, and long-lasting solution for smooth, hair-free skin. Clinically proven and suitable for all skin types, it’s ideal for anyone seeking lasting results with less upkeep.

Results vary based on skin tone and hair type, with best outcomes seen in those with darker hair on lighter skin. Lighter hair may respond less due to lower pigment levels. Longevity depends on your hair’s natural growth cycle, and some patients may need multiple sessions and occasional maintenance to stay smooth.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment that uses concentrated light energy to target and destroy hair follicles beneath the skin. The heat from the laser damages the follicle at the root, significantly reducing its ability to produce hair. While often referred to as “permanent hair removal,” it’s more accurate to describe it as long-term hair reduction.

At Skinnovations, we use the Cutera Xeo system—an advanced laser technology that is safe for all skin types and tones. The laser works by selectively targeting pigment in the hair while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. Because not all hairs are in the same stage of the growth cycle during a session, multiple treatments are typically needed to achieve optimal results. Most patients see a significant reduction in unwanted hair after three to five treatments, with occasional maintenance sessions once or twice a year to address any minor regrowth.

Laser hair removal with Cutera Xeo is performed in-office, requires no downtime, and is a safe, effective alternative to shaving, waxing, or plucking. It’s an ideal choice for anyone looking to simplify their routine and enjoy smoother, low-maintenance skin.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Before your treatment begins, your provider will assess the area to be treated and cleanse the skin to ensure it's free of any lotions, oils, or makeup. A cooling gel may be applied to enhance your comfort during the procedure.

You’ll be given protective eyewear, and the Cutera Xeo laser handpiece will be placed against the skin. As the laser is activated, you may feel a mild snapping or tingling sensation—often compared to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. Most patients find the treatment very tolerable, especially with the built-in cooling system that helps soothe the skin during the session.

Treatment times vary depending on the size of the area being treated. Smaller areas like the upper lip or underarms may take just a few minutes, while larger areas such as the legs or back may take 30 minutes or longer.

There’s no downtime required, so you can return to your normal activities immediately following your appointment. Your provider will walk you through any aftercare instructions to ensure the best possible results and skin comfort.

Post Laser Hair Removal Treatment

After your Cutera Xeo laser hair removal treatment, it’s common to experience mild redness, warmth, or slight swelling in the treated area—similar to a light sunburn. These effects are temporary and typically subside within a few hours to a couple of days.

For best results, follow these guidelines:

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight for 48 hours. Use SPF 30+ daily to protect skin and prevent pigmentation.

  • Limit Heat & Friction: No hot showers, saunas, or workouts for 24–48 hours.

  • Don’t Remove Hair Manually: Let hair shed naturally—avoid waxing, tweezing, or plucking.

  • Skip Harsh Products: Avoid exfoliants, retinoids, and acids for 3–5 days unless approved by your provider.

  • Moisturize: Use a gentle, fragrance-free lotion if skin feels dry or irritated.

  • Expect Shedding: Hair may shed over 1–3 weeks—this is a normal part of the process.

If redness, discomfort, or signs of infection persist, contact your provider. Most sessions are spaced 4–6 weeks apart for best results.
