What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is a professional skincare treatment that uses a customized blend of active acids to exfoliate the outermost layers of the skin. This process stimulates cellular turnover, encouraging the skin to shed dead and damaged cells to reveal fresh, healthy skin underneath. Depending on the strength of the solution, chemical peels can be no- downtime meaning no visible peeling or sloughing of the skin, to moderate downtime meaning visible peeling for 7-10 days.
At Skinnovations, we offer chemical peels of all strengths to fit each individual’s skin type—whether their concern is aging, acne, large pores, dry skin, dullness, oily skin, brown spots, melasma, or rosacea. We view chemical peels as exercise for your skin. As you age, your cellular turnover slows dramatically, leaving you with lackluster, uneven skin. Peels help activate your natural cell renewal, leaving your skin looking radiant and youthful.
Chemical peels can effectively treat a variety of skin concerns, including:
-
Rough skin texture
-
Dull skin tone
-
Acne scars
-
Fine lines and wrinkles
-
Sun damage
-
Congested pores
-
Aging skin
Each treatment is tailored to meet your unique skin goals, helping you achieve a smoother, brighter, and more revitalized complexion.

What to Expect During Your Treatment
You will be dermaplaned (removal of the top layer of dead skin cells), and your licensed aesthetician will apply the peel solution that will be chosen based on what your skin concerns are. At Skinnovations we carry chemical peels with a variety of different ingredients and strengths. Whether you just want gentle exfoliation, brightening, acne, sun damage and or anti-aging, your provider will help you determine the best treatment for your specific needs.
Post Chemical Peel Treatment
After a chemical peel, it’s normal to experience redness, dryness, and mild flaking as your skin renews. Gently cleanse with a mild, non-soap cleanser and keep skin well-moisturized using fragrance-free products. Avoid sun exposure, heat, and active ingredients like retinoids or exfoliants for at least a week. Always wear broad-spectrum SPF to protect your healing skin. Do not pick or peel flaking skin. Follow your provider’s instructions and give your skin time—peeling usually starts around day 3 and fades by day 7, revealing a smoother, more radiant complexion.
