Which scar treatement is right for you?

The benefit of our scar treatments is that many of them simultaneously target other skin conditions. Other factors like your skin type, comfort level with each treatment, and the types of scars you hope to treat will be used to determine your treatment plan.

Our providers will discuss your skin concerns and examine your skin to help you determine the best scar treatment or combination of treatments for your individual needs.

Several treatment options include:

  • Surgical scar subcision to improve the appearance of depressed skin scars

  • Microneedling

  • Botox into scar tissue

  • Microneedling with Sculptra combination

  • Kenalog Injections

    • Kenalog injections are commonly used to treat acne and acne scars but this treatment is effective for various types of raised scars, including keloids. Kenalog injections are made with an anti-inflammatory medication called triamcinolone acetonide. This medication causes scar tissue to shrink, flattening the scar, and can even lighten dark scar tissue. Kenalog injections are especially beneficial for acne scars because they reduce inflammation and prevent future breakouts.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

During your scar treatment, your provider will begin with a thorough consultation to determine the most effective approach based on your skin and the type of scarring. Treatment options may include surgical scar subcision, which uses a small needle to release fibrous tissue beneath depressed scars; microneedling, which stimulates collagen production to improve skin texture; Botox injections into scar tissue to relax and soften the area; or a combination of microneedling with Sculptra to enhance collagen remodeling and restore volume. A topical numbing cream is typically applied beforehand to maximize comfort. Most treatments take under an hour, and your provider will give you detailed aftercare instructions to support healing and optimize your results.

Post Scar Treatment

After your scar treatment, it’s common to experience some redness, swelling, or mild sensitivity, similar to a light sunburn. These effects typically resolve within a few days. Minor bruising or pinpoint bleeding may occur, especially after subcision or microneedling. Botox results take a few days to appear, while Sculptra works gradually over several weeks as collagen builds.

To support healing, avoid sun exposure, strenuous activity, and harsh skincare products for a few days. Keep the area clean and moisturized, and follow your provider’s aftercare instructions closely. Multiple treatments may be recommended for best results, with continued improvement over time.
